The NYPD was called to assist with an unruly situation Thursday night at an opening reception of sexually provocative occult artworks at the infamous Stephen Romano Gallery in Brooklyn, NY.

The exhibition entitled “Magica Sexualis” features artworks in various media by international artists, living and dead, including Barry William Hale, Nyahzul, William Mortensen, Steven Bradshaw, Ellen Stagg, Jel Ena, Matthew Dutton, Colin Christian, Steven Baines, Lizz Lopez, Michaelanthony Mandrake and many others.

There was a warning sign on the door which read:

The reception was also attended by notable celebrities in the occult world, including the high priest of the Church of Satan with several followers, as well as a former Australian super model  (who has nude photographs in the exhibit), several prominent celebrities who work in the adult entertainment industry, and many other artists whose subject matter is derived from the dark side.

Trouble seemed inevitable when the gallery hired two adult burlesque models, Penny Wren and Evelyn Vinyl, to dress provocatively like the devil women depicted in artist Jel Ena’s works.

One of the guests, who appears to have been uninvited but somehow managed to get past security despite being extremely intoxicated, became obnoxious and unruly in the presence of the temptresses. Tensions grew as the guest and security confronted one another, resulting in the NYPD having to be called in to diffuse the situation.

Gallery owner Stephen Romano commented, “You never know what will happen at one of these events, it’s mostly all goodwill and fun, people getting off on the art itself.  But it can be an overwhelming combination for some people, Magik, Sex, Insanely Gorgeous Women, and Wine.  Maybe the phase of the moon and the death head comet overhead had something to do with it too. Anyhow, I’m just happy no one got hurt.” Romano continued, “All in all, out of 350+ attendees of the evening, if only one gets taken away in handcuffs, it’s not a bad average considering the dark forces we are conjuring. I’m kidding…”

The exhibition “Magica Sexualis,” alongside Jel Ena’s “Sanctum Infernum,” will continue through December at Stephen Romano Gallery.
